Movia – Copenhell Festival Bus

The Challenge

Movia dedicated a special bus line for festivalgoers traveling to Copenhell, Denmark’s biggest heavy metal festival. The task was to design a bus wrap that felt authentic to the metal community, caught attention on the streets of Copenhagen, and created something fans would be genuinely proud to ride to the festival.

Creative Approach

I developed two bold concepts using the bus doors as an active design element:

  1. The Animated Jaw – the lower half of a skull placed on the bus doors so the mouth would open and close as passengers boarded.

  2. The Split Skull – the skull divided across the bus doors, so entering the bus meant stepping directly into the skull itself.

The second concept was chosen as it delivered the most immersive, fan-first experience. To make the artwork resonate with real festivalgoers, I created the illustration in the woodcut style that was the visual identity of Copenhell that year. Subtle symbolic details were added for authenticity, such as the third eye, referencing Tool, the festival’s headlining band.

The final result was a bus design that blended metal iconography, subcultural references, and playful interaction, turning the ride to Copenhell into an experience in itself.
