Box – Digital Art Installation
The Concept
Created in collaboration with Lynfabrikken (Aarhus), this project was designed for their digital gallery Box — a floor-to-ceiling HD screen visible directly from the street. The idea was to transform the screen into a laboratory of life, where organic and mechanical abstractions evolve in surreal ways.
The piece features four distinct personalities, expressed as hybrid creatures that merge mechanical textures, insect-like details, and bird-inspired motion. Between them, flowing transitions create a sense of constant transformation — a floating, out-of-space sensation that blurs the boundary between natural and artificial life.
Creative Approach
To enhance the installation’s immersive quality, I digitally reconstructed the Box gallery room and treated it as the “laboratory” where the animation unfolds. This gave viewers the illusion of peering into a living digital environment rather than simply watching a screen.
The animation was developed entirely in Cinema 4D with Octane Render, allowing for rich textures, fluid motion, and a strong interplay of light and shadow.
